HERE IS A LIST OF THE MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

QUESTION:
Why is it necessary to check signatures on all accesses, if the same person requests access each and every day?
ANSWER:
The depository must check each and every signature no matter how frequently the accesses occur.  Consistency is the key to good security.  We strive to provide the highest level of protection to our customers.

QUESTION:
"Joint" Lease Agreements - Is access granted to the living co-renter when the other co-renter dies?
ANSWER:
When a box is rented by two persons (joint-lessees), and under the terms of the lease both renters have the right of "individual access", the death of one renter does not affect the access rights of the other renter.

QUESTION:
What is the "deputy"?  Do I need one?
ANSWER:
A "deputy" is an individual assigned by the box holder to have access to the safe deposit box.  The Appointment of Deputy Form gives the deputy the authority to remove the contents of the safe deposit box, surrender the box and cancel the contract.  The property in the safe deposit box does not belong to the deputy, the deputy acts on behalf of the box holder.  It is strongly recommended that an individual opening a personal box appoint a deputy so that more than one person has access to the safe deposit box in case of emergency.

QUESTION:
When I open a safe deposit box, does the depository have a key to my box?
ANSWER:
Zurich Depository will not have keys to your box.  Once the box is opened, the keys are set in the presence of the new box holder; the customer is then given the only keys to the box.  Zurich Depository does not retain any keys to a customer's box.  If the customer loses both keys issued, the box must be drilled open by a locksmith in the presence of the box holder.

QUESTION:
What will I need to access my safe deposit box at Zurich Depository?
ANSWER:
You will need to sign your name on a Record of Access Form giving the box number and a signature that matches with a signature that is on file for your safe deposit box.  The guard will review the information and confirm the match.  You will enter a private pin number authorizing access.  Last but not least, you will need the key to your safe deposit box to open the box.

HELPFUL HINTS

Did you know that renting a safe deposit box at Zurich Depository Corporation (ZDC) might not have to cost you a cent.
In fact, you could actually make money on the deal.

When you keep your business and/or personal assets in a ZDC safe deposit box, you're getting Swiss quality security.  Due to this fact, you would need far less insurance coverage than if you were to keep the valuables at home or in the office.  Thanks to these lower premium, many of our customers end up paying no extra money for the box rental.  Some actually profit above and beyond the rental fee.

Additionally, depending on what you're storing, and the tax bracket you're in, the cost of your ZDC safe deposit box may be tax deductible, for even more savings.  Ask your accountant about eligibility requirements.
